SESSIONS
Zoe Inman is a 19-year practitioner of bodywork. She was the
director of the Advanced program at the San Francisco School of Massage for six years
and is an on-going teacher of Swedish Massage and Acting for the massage
therapist. She holds a B.A. in Theater and is a graduate of a two year
seminary. Her approach to clients is dynamic; each session is a new day,
person, and practitioner, so why treat each session the same.
CHAOS
A session will sometimes start here or end here. many times a
system, injury, or condition has to get tight or fly apart before a
release will come, often with lots of sensation.
ACTIVATE
The body is often ready before the mind to release or
heal---the question becomes how to access the mind's so the whole system
of the client can work together. The innate intelligence of the body
talks and directs a session.
SHIFT
Bodywork is different than massage. It is more intimate way
of achieving change and freedom. Using a variety of tools with
simplicity, fearlessness and respect, bodywork allows the client to dive
deep so a tension pattern is released and that energy can be used
elsewhere, in body or lifestyle. Cranial Sacral works with the cerebral
spinal fluid, the core, releasing deep tensions in the other systems of
the body. Deep Tissue is a slow way of reaching deeper into a chronic
holding pattern or scar tissue; this tool is used consciously and with
the client's participation by establishing comfort zones through
dialoguing. Zen Shiatsu, Classical Swedish Massage, and advanced energy
healing techniques are also used.
CLEAR SEEING
Clairvoyance is used when chronic injury or healing
won't change or hold. It often takes identifying a probable cause or
archetype picture that's being held in the part of the body before a
shift can occur. This tool is not used to tell the future or give
advice.
CALIBRATE
The moment when the system of inner bridges of the human
being reconnect and update the contract with itself to always strive for
homeostasis (balance).
INTEGRATE
The continuum of healing is a life long process that goes
beyond the session---but often begins in a session. It's the process of
accepting the physical change as real. Feeling better, you can choose to
create chaos again and the whole process continues. The role of a
bodywork practitioner is to facilitate mobility (movement on a gross
plane) and motility (movement underneath), not to fix or correct
life.
Zoe is available for sacred ceremonies regarding birth, commitment and
death. She also teaches private classes for deeper inquiry into body and
the bodyworker and teaches basic touch for couples.
CEREMONIES
The most remarkable events in our lives, such as those regarding birth,
commitment and death, can inspire amazing triumphs of personal and
spiritual growth. They have the power to bring us back to the truth of
ourselves and the purpose of this existence through ritual and
reverence. It is for these poignant reasons that I perform sacred
ceremonies. They are the ultimate expression of the work that I do and
the craft that I have spent a lifetime discovering.
Cultivating honesty at the most sincere and sacred level is the core
aspect of my craft and its philosophical foundations. These foundations
have origins in Christian, Buddhist and Vedantic belief systems, where
life events are a celebration of not just the individuals, but the very
Creator. These events and the ceremonies and rituals that surround them
often revitalize our belief and understanding of God, and it is my hope
to help encourage this reaffirmation.
The sermons are candid and direct, and focus on celebrating the
dichotomy inherent to this life. This includes all aspects from the
light and the dark, to the beautiful and the sinister, to the jocose and
the sad, to the clear and the uncertain. The sermons focus on the
individual, the healing that has been accomplished and that which is yet
to come, as well as the greater divine structure that unites us all.
The process for preparing for ceremonies requires committed
participation from those involved. Intimate interviews will be held that
will allow us to gather a clear understanding of not only your hopes and
wishes for the ceremony but also where you are in your recognition and
growth. This is a must as it is with great honor and responsibility that
I accept and fulfill ceremonies.
CLASSES
The following are a sample of the classes that are currently
being offered. Classes are always kept small, about ten people, and are
held at my private studio. Classes are offered as two-day intensives or
in full seven week sessions. I am always working to introduce new
classes so check back often.
Giving and Receiving
Is it really true that giving is better than
receiving? When does giving and receiving become taking and smothering?
Can you really give to anyone without knowing how to receive? It is
these and many other evocative questions we will explore in
deconstructing the continuum that is giving and receiving. From birth,
we have been indoctrinated with a myriad of archetypes, expectations,
and assumptions concerning giving and receiving, and often we get stuck
unbalanced playing more of one or the other role. This imbalance is
often dictated early on and becomes an integral tool in our quest for
power and security--ultimately leaving us disconnected from ourselves
and others. We will spend the first day in the class confronting these
deep-rooted preconceptions and how we have come to manifest them with
others--and I don't mean just the exchange that occurs between loved
ones--partners, family and friends. While they are an important
component, the class is about the giving and receiving that can occur
between any two peopleÑbetween partners, coworkers, allies, and enemies.
In class, we will learn to listen and accept what a person is offering
you, both spoken and unspoken, in hopes that we can respond with
integrity as well as respect for both our conspirator and ourselves.
Through journaling, conversations, one-on-one scenarios and "cheesy"
games, we will begin to uncover the truth of our inclination and its
origins in hopes of moving towards a more constructive equilibrium.
Multi-dimensional Bodywork
Clearly there are multiple dimensions to
each of our lives. Daily, we inhabit the changing sensations of our
physical bodies along with their pulsating emotions. We experience the
near continuous stream of thoughts, beliefs and memories that make up
and sustain the ego-identity patterns in our head. And on a spirit level
(the fourth dimension) we can become aware of that part of ourselves
that never changes: that part of ourselves that witnesses the complex
dance of the physical, emotional and mental bodies from a place of
clarity and stillness. This is the place where true understanding and
meaningful change can come together for both the client and the
practitioner. Learning to access this spiritual fourth dimension
requires us to deepen our relationship with the first three. The core of
the class is designed to help the practitioner establish a solid
foundation in their own physical, emotional and mental aspects: learning
to ground into ourselves so that we can work from a place of neutrality
and acceptance. Only in this way can we learn to enter the client's
system with integrity and clear boundaries. Then can we learn to
reliably access the unseen fourth dimension and engage its knowledge and
healing power in the service of the client.
Acting, Improv & Healing the Master Wound
Many of us are working
day-to-day to deepen our spiritual healing through self-reflection,
using tools such as meditation and prayer to guide our inquiry. But
sometimes, these tools and the familiarity of our daily routine lose
their potency, and we need more focused devices to reinvigorate our
search for the truth. This class is just that: a device that helps us
to actively explore those often hidden aspects of ourselves--our
shadows, masks, and alter egos--that are key to to the discovery of our
master wound. Through improv and other acting exercises, we'll work to
reveal the truths of ourselves, to know them and understand them, within
the safety of the group and the anonymity of character. This process of
investigation and performance will help us to expose our master
wound--safely--allowing us to integrate it into our lives so that we can
begin moving with autonomy. To encourage this intimate understanding,
group and individual improvisation techniques will be used extensively
as well as other acting methods.
Dynamic Meditation
Meditation is often used as a way to regain our
center amongst the cycles of boredom and chaos inherent in daily life.
It can calm the mind, open the heart, and soothe the soul, restoring
peace and calm. And while these benefits are undeniable, this daily
practice often just scratches the surface of the true power of
meditation. Meditation can be used to inspire self-discovery and
profound change in both ourselves and those we encounter. It is these
more dynamic aspects of meditation, which allow us to dig deep, that
we'll explore in this 2-day intensive. First, we'll begin by learning
grounding techniques that will help to harness us here--in our bodies on
this planet--between the earthly and cosmic energy sources that provide
us knowledge and vitality. Grounded, we can begin to realign the more
detailed aspects of ourselves, exploring our personal chakra systems.
We'll learn to balance and cleanse these systems, both individually and
as a group, paying special attention to the lovely, mysterious, and
oft-misunderstood third chakra, our ego-identity. Here in the third,
we'll experiment with appreciating our many sides, from dark to light,
without judgment or regret. These evocative techniques will help awaken
us to our perceptions of ourselves and their origins. This
self-awareness will expand to include the context in which we have come
to coexist and that we have helped create.
EXPERIENCES
I've worked with Zoe for around 5 years now and have
grown a lot as a result of her work and watching her grow. Her honesty,
courage and insights can take a person right to the heart of their
issues (physical, emotional and spiritual) where they can then work
together with her in whatever way is appropriate: she is totally
flexible. One of the great proofs of how one can benefit from working
with her is to see how she has persevered in applying the work to
herself, always striving to live what she teaches; no easy thing, and
very inspirational to watch in action.
So if you are ready to be led to a mirror that hides nothing, and ready
to be helped to take on the responsibilities for what you see there, Zoe
is someone who can make that happen---all with good humor, solid
boundaries, and a very broad and healthy view on life and living.
--Geoff D.
In her activation of stagnant energy, along wih readings of the past,
Zoe brings information to the fore--to the consciousness, in the
present, to allow each person to continuously make decisions about who
he/she needs to be. That gift is profound and is presented with
humility, integrity and sincerity. Allowing this mirror to be held in
front of you can spark profound change in your life.
--Oblio J.
Zoe has the unique ability to cut through all the BS and get right to
your issue. I have done years of therapy but progressed more in the 8
week class I took with Zoe than I did in my years of therapy. She
creates a non-judgmental, safe environment for healing and
transformation to take place. She is truly gifted.

Zoe's sensible approach to bodywork demonstrates the best combination of
traditional and alternative therapies. She is remarkably well rounded
with an astute appreciation of the benefits of updated information and
learning. Zoe has an extraordinary ability to convey thorough
explanations of her work during our sessions; she is simple and direct
while consistently displaying a keen intuitive understanding of both my
immediate and on-going bodywork needs and issues.
Her extensive knowledge and healthy respect for traditional physical
rehabilitation is the foundation for her unique ability to incorporate
applicable alternative therapies with the goal of achieving the best
possible results. I feel fortunate to have Zoe's talents available to me
and value her profound understanding of the inter-dependence of all
facets of the human condition on the path to healing.

Zoe is truly exceptional. Her candid insights into the nature of one's
being is balanced with very understandable and practical guidance. Her
sense of equanimity and joy are a pleasure to experience.
